Polarity is the UK's electrical compliance specialist. We exist to make inspection, testing and certification effortless, transparent and genuinely trustworthy — for the landlords, managing agents and businesses who can't afford a lapsed certificate.
Where we started
Named after the test that gets the fundamentals right.
Polarity was founded in 2016 by two working electricians who were tired of watching landlords and managing agents let down by unreliable contractors — missed appointments, lapsing certificates and reports so confusing nobody could act on them.
The polarity test is one of the most basic checks in an inspection: confirm that live, neutral and earth are connected the right way round. Get it wrong and everything downstream is unsafe. We took the name deliberately — a business built on getting the fundamentals right, every single time, before anyone talks about anything clever.
Nearly a decade on, that principle hasn't moved. Our engineers are directly employed. Our pricing is published. And every observation we code is backed by a photograph you can see for yourself.

- Directly employed engineers. We never subcontract. The person who tests your property is on our payroll, trained to our standard and accountable to you — not a gig-economy stand-in.
- Fixed, published pricing. Our prices are on the website, VAT included, with no call-out fees. You approve the cost before we attend and remedial work is quoted line by line.
- A technology-led portal. Every certificate lives in one place, with automatic renewal reminders so a report never lapses on your watch again.
- Photographic evidence, always. Every coded observation is documented with a photograph, so you can see exactly what was found without taking anyone's word for it.
- National coverage, local teams. We work across England, Wales and Scotland through regional engineering teams — the same standards in Glasgow, Cardiff and Croydon.
- Plain English, not jargon. Reports are written to be read. Every C1, C2 and C3 comes with a summary a non-electrician can understand and act on.

- Certificate processing. Signed digital reports are normally issued within 48 hours of the inspection.
- Booking notice. We usually require 24–48 hours' notice on bookings in order to attend site.
- Pricing. Prices quoted relate to works carried out Monday–Friday. Weekend and emergency callout rates may vary.
