Fire detection installed, tested and certified.
From mains-linked smoke and heat alarms in a rented home to a full addressable fire alarm system in a commercial building, detection has to be installed and maintained to the right grade. We work to BS 5839, and to the smoke and carbon monoxide alarm rules for rented housing.
The right system, correctly maintained.
The requirements differ by building. We advise on the correct category and grade, install or service the system, and certify it so it stands up to a fire risk assessment or a council inspection.
- Commercial fire alarms to BS 5839-1. Design, installation and periodic servicing of conventional and addressable systems.
- Domestic detection to BS 5839-6. Mains-linked, interlinked smoke and heat alarms at the correct grade for the property.
- Landlord smoke & CO compliance. A smoke alarm on every storey and a CO alarm in rooms with a fixed combustion appliance, as the regulations require.
- Documented testing. Weekly-test guidance, periodic servicing and a certificate for your records and insurers.
Specify, install, service.

Commission
The system is tested end to end and demonstrated, with weekly-test points explained.
Maintain
Periodic servicing keeps the system compliant, with faults logged and certificates issued.

Ask a questionWhat smoke alarms must a landlord provide?
At least one smoke alarm on every storey used as living accommodation, and a carbon monoxide alarm in any room with a fixed combustion appliance. Alarms must be working at the start of each tenancy.
Do commercial systems need regular servicing?
Yes. BS 5839-1 recommends servicing at least every six months for most systems, alongside the routine weekly user test. We can service under contract.
Should alarms be interlinked?
For rented homes we fit interlinked, mains-powered alarms so that when one sounds they all sound — the current recommendation for Grade D detection.
Can you take over an existing system?
Yes. We can inspect, service and certify most existing conventional and addressable systems, and advise if any part is beyond economic repair.
